Norway: Northern Lights Cruises – The Astronomy Voyage
Uncover the secrets behind the Aurora Borealis
For selected dates on this particular Aurora cruise itinerary we are joined by expert astronomers whose work in this field is widely celebrated. Throughout these Northern Lights cruises they will deliver interesting talks and informative lectures as the ship sails steadily along the rugged Norwegian coastline on a quest to track down the breathtaking Aurora Borealis.

Find out why they are only seen at these high northerly latitudes and delve into the mysteries and legends that surround them. There is amazing potential on these Northern Lights cruises to see the spectacle for yourself and although sightings cannot be guaranteed, the odds are stacked in your favour. Travel at the time of year when the phenomena are most active and visit the places where the Aurora are most frequently seen. You can even request a wake-up call at any point during the night so you never miss an opportunity to witness their splendour.
Depending on which of these Northern Lights cruises you choose, you could be joined either by Ian Ridpath or Dr. John Mason, both excellent and enthusiastic speakers. Ian Ridpath, a fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society, has worked at the University of London Observatory and is now a full time writer, having been Editor of the Oxford Dictionary of Astronomy and Norton’s Star Atlas. Dr. John Mason, an expert in astronomy, astrophysics and space technology, has lectured at several colleges at the University of London also.
